A New Koepfer 173 CNC Gear Hobber

Gear Technology has added another Koepfer CNC Gear Hobber with an autoload feature, bringing our total number of auto-fed, CNC Hobbers to three. The extra hobbing capacity is needed to support ongoing, long-term agreements with several of our customers. These state-of-the-art machines can load parts, machine the gears and unload them automatically, requiring only one operator for all three machines. This level of efficiency is reflected in our reputation for consistent, on-time deliveries and very competitive pricing. With our facility now operating two shifts, twenty hours a day, Gear Technology offers you the machining capacity you need combined with the quality and reliability you’ve come to expect from a leader in the precision gear manufacturing industry.

ISO 9001 and AS9100 Registration is Pending

Gear Technology is in the final stages of our ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 Rev. B registration process, with full certification expected from Perry Johnson, Inc., within three months. The ISO 9001:2000 quality standard addresses specific quality management system requirements in order to more effectively meet our customers’ needs. AS9100 addresses specific requirements for the aerospace industry, and is designed to reduce defects in the supplier chain, continually improve quality and boost customer satisfaction. At Gear Technology, our entire organization is committed to continuous improvement and exacting quality standards in order to deliver the best possible product and service to our customers.

New Aqueous Parts Cleaning System

Gear Technology has installed an ultrasonic, aqueous-based parts cleaning system. This environmentally-friendly system is used to clean machined components prior to first-article inspection points during the machining process, and before final shipment to our customers. Our multiple-tank process removes even the smallest particles and is capable of processing up to 6,000 parts per month. In-house and environmentally-responsible parts cleaning is yet another way for Gear Technology to ensure that your precision machined gears and assemblies arrive at your facility completely free from foreign object contamination and ready for use.

A New MTB 10-4 CNC Gear Shaper

Gear Technology has added a Fellows 10-4 CNC Gear Shaper, completely rebuilt and certified by Machine Tool Builders - the industry’s most respected gear manufacturing machine rebuilder. This top-of-the-line, computer-controlled machine tool is designed for strength and reliability, delivering precision results in a variety of materials and gear configurations. The addition of the 10-4 Gear Shaper has allowed us to reduce cycle times and increase our overall shop capacity. Gear Technology is committed to the latest in computer-controlled machining technology to deliver efficiency, reliability and cost-effective pricing to our customers. You can count on Gear Technology to remain ahead of the curve when it comes to state-of-the-art precision gear manufacturing.

Gear Technology Fixes Material Prices

No one who has read a newspaper in the last couple of years can be surprised at the continuing, exorbitant increases in commodities prices across the board, and steel is no exception. Fortunately, Gear Technology has a handle on market uncertainties that make cost forecasting and long-term planning such a challenge for buyers and manufacturers of machined metallic components. We have negotiated a multiple-year contract with a major metal supplier for a variety of steel alloys and other metals used in gear manufacturing. This arrangement allows us to offer long-term agreements with fixed pricing for materials; significantly reducing cost variation, and allowing for more accurate forecasting and planning by our customers.
